Miami Open Tennis Tournament
The Miami Open, also known as the Miami Open presented by Itaú, is an annual outdoor hardcourt tournament set in Miami Gardens, Florida, USA. As a WTA and ATP-sanctioned event, the event is part of the WTA 1000 and ATP Masters 1000 series of events respectively, which are the highest rank of Tour events behind the Grand Slam tournaments. It is the second of these ATP tournaments held at Hard Rock Stadium.
It is also the second tournament of the Sunshine Double which are 2 Masters 1000 events held on a hardcourt that kick off the tennis season in the USA, the first being the Indian Wells Masters. This year will mark the 39th edition of the event and the 3rd edition since it was canceled in 2020. Given its size that is comparable to a Grand Slam event, it is one of only 2 ATP Masters 1000 tournaments that extends past just 8 days. The titles sponsor for the event, Itaú, is an international bank based in Brazil.

ATP Miami Open 2024 Results
In the Singles championship, Jannik Sinner defeated Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets to win Miami Open 6-3, 6-1. Sinner captured his second career ATP Masters 1000 crown, his first came at the Canadian Open last year. Italian star reached the final in Miami in both 2021 and 2023 but could not breakthrough.
While in the doubles, top seed Matthew Ebden and Rohan Bopanna defeated seeded no 2 Ivan Dodig / Austin Krajicek in tie breaker after loosing 1st set 6-7, 6-3, 10-6. It was their second Masters 1000 title as a pair, Bopanna’s sixth, and Ebden’s second overall.

In 2023, In form Russian star Daniil Medvedev clinched Miami Open 2023 singles title. Daniil faced Italian sensation Jannik Sinner in final and defeat him in straight sets (7-5, 6-3).
In doubles championship, The Mexican tennis player Santiago González and the French Édouard Roger-Vasselin were crowned men’s doubles champions of the Miami Masters 1000 by defeating Frenchman Nicolas Mahut and the American Austin Krajicek in the final, in two sets by partials of 7-6 and 7 -5, in a duel that lasted one hour and 44 minutes.

History
The Miami Open was first established to become the first major tournament of the season or the first Grand Slam event of the season. Former player Butch Buchholz founded the event, dubbing it the “Winter Wimbledon”. The event held its inaugural edition at Delray Beach, moved to Boca West for the second edition until finally finding a more permanent home at Key Biscayne.
The latest location change came in 2019 when it was moved once again, to Miami Gardens. The event was often called the “Fifth Major” and for a time, it was a one-of-a-kind event, below the Grand Slams and ATP World Tour Finals, but above all other tour events. Given its long history, the event was once also a part of the Grand Prix Tennis Tour. Today, it is one of the 2 main ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, making up the “Sunshine Double” along with the Indian Wells Masters held right before it.

A standard single session ticket applies for one day/night session and each day of the event is split into 2 sessions, except for during the qualifications stage; the 18th and 19th of March, and the last 2 days of the event; the 30th and 31st of March.
