With multiple top 10 players in attendance, the event will headline the 2023 season, acting as a warm-up for the Australian Open set in mid-January. ATP Adelaide International 1 Tennis Tournament

The Adelaide International is an annual hard-court outdoor tennis tournament held in the city of Adelaide, Australia. The tournament has been split into 2 events, Adelaide 1 and Adelaide 2 held one after another over 2 weeks’ time. The Adelaide International is part of the ATP and WTA Tours with both sessions held simultaneously at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre. Adelaide 1 is of the ATP 250 and WTA 500 tour category, with 2023 marking the 3rd ATP and 4TH WTA Adelaide International edition. The main sponsors for the event are the Government of South Australia and Adelaide South Australia.

Adelaide International 2023 winners

In finals, none other than Novak Djokovic defeated American star Sebastian Kurda. After 1 set down, djokovic wins remaining 2 sets and claimed a 1st title of 2023. Djokovic defeated Kurda by 6-7, 7-6, 6-4. By winning Adelaide International week 1 title, Djokovic extends his win streak in Australia to 34 matches.
While in doubles championship, Harri Heliövaara & Lloyd Glasspool take out the trophy after their win over Jamie Murray & Michael Venus on Centre Court by 6-3, 7-6. British doubles player Lloyd Glasspool has won his third ATP title at the Adelaide International.

Adelaide International History and Previous Winners

The Adelaide International tournament was first established in 2020. There had been no event at Adelaide from both tours that led up to the Grand Slam since 2009. But after the tour was streamlined and condensed in 2019, a vacancy was created that Adelaide could fulfill. Thus, in 2019, the South Australian Government announced plans to construct a new large-scale tennis center and secured a deal with Tennis Australia. Soon after the facility’s construction, the inaugural edition of the Adelaide International was held. The tournament began as an ATP 250 and WTA 250 event but with one single session. In 2021, the tournament became a WTA-only event and was held after the Australian Open. Then, in 2022, as a response to the multiple events that were canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Adelaide International was split into 2 events, with the first upgrade to a WTA 500 event.

As there was no ATP version of the event held in 2021, there have been only 2 singles and 4 doubles champions.

ATP Adelaide International 1 Prize Money and Points

The total financial commitment and prize money for the ATP 250 Adelaide International is $642,735. Most likely, both events had somewhat similar prize money. similar to the 2022 session. The $642,735 was also split 1:1 but it is speculation. The 2023 prize money distributions would be the same as Adelaide 2.

ATP Adelaide International 1 Draws

The tournament will have 32 singles and 24 doubles draws that will be released on the official website as the tournament progresses.

ATP Adelaide International 1 Dates

The first Adelaide event will take place across 8 days from the 1st-8th January. The main draw will probably be conducted in a week from the 2nd-6th, with a qualifying round on the 1st of January. The official schedule has not yet been released.

ATP Adelaide International 1 Players List

The ATP Adelaide player’s list is the most star-studded of any previous editions. 4 of the Top 10 will be present at the event with some notable big names being ATP Finals and 21-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokic, Felix Auger-Aliassame, Daniil Medvedev, and many others. Former ATP Finals Champion Andy Murray, 2022 Next Gen ATP Finals Champion Brandon Nakashima, and last year’s Adelaide 1 runner-up Karen Kachanov will also be participating. The 2020 Adelaide International champion Andrey Rublev will make his return to Adelaide but the reigning champion Gael Monfils will not return to defend his title.
