Paris Masters History and Past Winners
The Paris Masters got its start in the ATP Tour in 1969, as the French Covered Court. The event was originally part of the Grand Prix Super Series of tournaments. Prior to the Masters category replacing the ATP Super 9, the event was also known as the Paris Open. The Masters along with the French Open have solidified France as one of the tennis capitals of the world.
By far the most famous of the Paris Masters champions has to be Novak Djokovic. He won a record 6 titles at the event, including his record 3–consecutive wins streak from 2013 to 2015. He is also the reigning champion but with the 2020 champion and 2021 runner-up Daniil Medvedev and new talent, Carlos Alcaraz’s participation, predictions as to who will snatch the title are very mixed. The reigning doubles champions Tim Putz and Michael Venus have also returned.
