Hamburg European Open, previously the German Open Tennis Championships, has been running since 1891 (only for men), making it one of the oldest tournaments in the world. For the first four years of its existence, it was played as a tennis exhibition in the Casino-Saal on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg.

2023 Hamburg European Open belongs to homestars. Both Singles and Doubles title won by German stars.
In singles, The German Alexander Zverev defeated the Serbian Laslo Djere 7-5, 6-3 and became champion at the ATP 500 Hamburg European Open. Zverev wins his twentieth ATP title of his career, the first since the 2021 Masters Cup
In the Doubles, German pair Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz won 2023 Hamburg title. They have won their first title since the beginning of their partnership in Hamburg . Two-time Grand Slam winner Krawietz from Coburg and Frankfurter Pütz defeated Belgians Sander Gille/Joran Vliegen 7:6 (7:4), 6:3 in the final.

ATP Hamburg European Open 2022 Results
In the 2022 singles championship, top-seeded Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz was defeated by unseeded Italian star Lorenzo Musetti. Lorenzo got the victory in the final set (6-4,7-6,6-4). While in the doubles title, the Winning pair Harri Heliovaara of Finland and Lloyd Glasspool of GBR defeated Ronan Bopanna of India and Matwe Middlekoop of Netherlands in straight sets(6-2,6-4).
In 2021, Espanish star Pablo Carreno Busta won the singles title. Busta faced Serbian star Filip Krajinovic in the final and defeated him by 6-2, 6-4. In doubles, Tim Putz of Germany and Michael Venus of New Zealand won the doubles championship against Kevin Krawietz of Germany and Horia Tecăuof Romania. The winning pair grabbed the win in the final set (6–3, 6–7(3–7), [10–8]).
ATP Hamburg European Open History and Winners
The first edition of the tournament was held at the ‘Eisenbahnverein auf der Uhlenhorst’ and followed a best-of-three-sets format. From 1893 to 2007, it was best-of-five sets, then reverted to best-of-three sets for the final. The tournament was initially restricted to German and Austrian players from 1892 to 1896.
In 1924, the event moved to its current location in Am Rothenbaum. Until 1979, it included both men’s and women’s tournaments, but the women’s event relocated to West Berlin. From 1971 to 1989, it was part of the Grand Prix Tour, and from 1990 to 2008, it was an ATP Masters Series event. Since 2009, it has been an ATP Tour 500 event, which affected its ability to attract top-ranked players. Despite its appeal on slower surfaces, many prioritize preparations for the US Open as it falls after Wimbledon.
This tournament falls into different categories previously like ATP Super 9 (1990–1999), ATP Masters Series (2000–2008), and ATP Tour 500 (since 2009).
