By 1990, it joined the ATP Tour, gaining sponsors like Norstar Bank, Waldbaum’s, Genovese Drug Stores, and TD Waterhouse. Notable champions included Edberg, Kafelnikov, and Hewitt.
In 2005, the USTA merged Long Island’s men’s tournament with New Haven’s women’s event, creating a pioneering joint ATP-WTA tournament leading to the US Open.
