Washington Open also known as Citi Open for sponsorship reasons is one of the most famous tennis tournaments in the United States for both WTA and ATP tours. This tournament is from the US Open series, Citi Open founded in 1969 as an ATP tour but the WTA tour started in 2011. It will be the 54th edition of the Citi Open for the ATP tour this year.

ATP Mubadala Citi DC open 2023 Results
In singles, British number two Dan Evans beats Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor in straight sets (7-5, 6-3) to claim the Citi Open title in Washington. Evans will jump up to 21 in the men’s world rankings after his 2nd career ATP Title and dream run at the Citi Open. Dan Evans becomes the oldest players at the time of winning their first non-ATP 250 title, 33 years and 2 months, following by John Isner – 32 years and 11 months.
In the doubles, Maximo Gonzalez & Andres Molteni become the first Argentinian duo to capture the Mubadala Citi DC Open title with a 6-7 6-2 10-6 victory over Shelton and McDonald. Together both winning their fourth title of the year and their fifth career title together.

ATP Washington Citi DC Open 2022 Champions
Australian star Nick Kyrgios won both single and doubles titles of the 2022 citi open. In the singles, Nick defeats Japanese star Yoshihito Nishioka in final. Nick won final in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
While Nick paired with American star Jack Sock in doubles, the Winning pair defeated Ivan Dodig of Croatia and Austin Krajicek of USA in final with straight sets 7-5, 6-4. Nick is the 1st man in the 53 years of citi open history to win both singles and doubles championships in the same year.
ATP CITI Open 2021 Champions
In 2019 Citi Open Singles championship Italian star Jannik Sinner won the title against home star Mackenzie Mcdonald. In final Sinner defeated Mcdonald in final set (7-5, 4-6, 7-5). Jannik was 1st Italian player who won Washington Open ever.
In doubles, Raven Klaasen of South Africa and Ben McLachlan of Japan won the doubles championship and Ben became the first Japanese to become 1st Citi Open doubles champion. Winning pair defeated Neal Skupski of GBR and Michael Venus of NZL by 7-6, 6-4.
Washington Open History and Winners
The tournament was first held on the men’s tour in 1969, known as the Washington Star International between 1969 and 1981, as the Sovran Bank Classic from 1982 to 1992, as the Newsweek Tennis Classic in 1993, and as the Legg Mason Tennis Classic from 1994 to 2011. It was known as the Citi Open since 2012. Competition was held on outdoor clay courts until 1986, when it switched to the current hard courts.
