The Astana Open is a professional indoor hard-court Tennis Tournament part of the ATP Tour. Only this year was the event canonized into the Tour as a ATP 500 event. 2022 will mark the third edition of the event that was created to fill the void left after many tournaments were cancelled subsequently due to the Corona outbreak. In many ways the championship is quite similar to the AGEL Open. The title sponsor for the event is the Kazakhstani Bank, Forte.

Astana Open 2022 Champions
In singles championship, Former world no1 and event’s seeded no 4 Novak Djokovic claimed singles title. Serbian star defeated Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas with straight sets (6-3, 6-4) . After this Novak wins his 90th career title and 4rth 2022 title.
In doubles championship, Croatian Pair Mate Pavic and Nikola Mektic defeated French Pair Fabrice Martin and Adrian Mannarino in final with straight sets (6-4, 6-2). This is 5th title of the Croatian pair together while for Mate Pavic it’s 6th title of 2022.
Astana Open History and Previous Winner
Initially, the tournament was a ATP250 event that also became a WTA250 event in 2021. The men’s tournament was played right after the women’s, but this would last only for a year. The WTA event was discontinued in 2022 and the event upgraded to the ATP500 category. The tournament has even set a record for Kazakhstan, it being the first time in history that both an ATP and WTA event was conducted in Kazakhstan. The champions so far are:

Since the tournament was upgraded to a ATP500 event, both the prize money and points have drastically increased. The prize money for this year is at $1,900,000 compared to 2021’s $480,000.

Astana Open Dates
The tournament dates are from the 1st to the 9th of October. 1st to 2nd for qualifying rounds and 3rd through 9th for the main draw. The event will be conducted alongside the Japan Open in Tokyo.
