Cordoba Open History and Previous Winners

History

The Cordoba Open’s introduction to the tour came as a response to the cancellation of the Ecuador Open Quito. There was previously no tennis tournament held in Cordoda. Taking a look at the previous tournament, the Ecuador Open Quito was a short-lived competition with 4 total editions starting from 2015 before cancelation in 2018. Shortly after it was canceled, there was a vacant spot in Latin America, and Corboda seemed the perfect spot to create a new tennis tournament.

Funnily enough, even the Ecuador Open Quito was a replacement for an even older event called the Chile Open. A similarity the Cordoba Open and Ecuador Open Quito share is that both are played on clay courts. Now the Cordoba Open occupies a significant spot on the tour, as a part of the Golden Swing and as the tournament that kicks off the clay season in Latin America,
